This site is for anyone who was or is currently a menber of the unique group that started out as the Doheny Volunteer Fire Dept. in conjunction with CDF in 1958, consolidated into the newly formed Orange County Fire Department as station 29 in 1980, reverted to paid call engine company 229 with the addition of a full time crew to engine 29 in August 1989, cosoidated, still as paid call engine company 229, into the Orange County Fire Authority in 1995, and finally conversion to reserve engine company 229 in 1999. And finally, .....

As of May 2, 2002, engine 229 is offically decommissioned.

As inevitable as it may have been and as sentimental as it may make some of us, there is no longer a Volunteer, Paid Call, or Reserve fire fighting presence at station 29. As part of the Orange County Fire Authority's department wide restructuring of the reserve firefighter program, engine 229 was decommissioned on May 2, 2002 with the remaining personnel being transferred to stations 30 in Dana Point and 7 in San Juan Capistrano. Currently, there are no plans to re-establish a station 29 reserve company when the new station opens. It appears that the history of this organization has come full circle. An era of community service and involvement that started with 25 dedicated charter members in 1958 and provided many area residents the opportunity to serve their community in a tremendously rewarding way for the following 42 years has come to an end. This fact only enhances the unique distinction of having been a member of this organization and makes it more important than ever that it's history be preserved.

So far, this page includes an area to post personal updates, and general updates about the station in general, an album section that currently has some old newspaper articles, and a short history of station 29 apparatus. This page will be a work in progress so if you any old photos, articles, anicdotes, or anything else you would like to contribute, please E-mail .
