New Station 29

End of an era ..... Old station 29 has been demolished to make way for a brand new station. Built in 1961 to house the all volunteer Doheny Fire Department (which was originally housed in a shed behind the post office on Doheny Park Rd. pending construction of a permanent station), the station faithfully served the community for the next 44 years. In the mid 80’s it was determined that the station did not meet current seismic codes and with the addition of a full time crew to engine 29 in 1989, conditions at the station became very cramped. The new station will occupy the site of the old station plus the site of the old Capistrano Beach County Water District office next door. Demolition of the old station took place in May 2005. During construction, Station 29 is being housed in temporary quarters on Sepulveda South of Victoria Blvd. When completed, the new station will house Engine 29 and Battalion 6 but there are currently no plans to re-establish a station 29 reserve company.
